The Vine Month is part of the Squirrel Calendar, and lasts from September 2nd to September 29th. For the black squirrels, vines symbolised family and so the lineage of a royal household was always depicted around its leaves and branches. At the end of the month, the tradition of Flouring the Founder is observed. In this, the eldest member of a household is covered in flour at noon and must endure it until sunset.
