The Oak Month is part of the Squirrel Calendar, and lasts from June 10th to July 7th. The oak is the tree most revered by squirrels. In the distant past, to celebrate this month, the monarchs of each of the Five Royal Houses of Black Squirrels would light an oak fire and there would be feasting and merrymaking. But since many of those realms were destroyed, the season is only observed by the squirrels of Greenwich Park, who make oak leaf crowns to wear on the first night of the month.
